Why do repeated tests differ?
Cellular scheduling, Wi-Fi contention, movement, routing, congestion, radio quality, and test-server load change from moment to moment. SignalPilot repeats samples and reports medians and variation to make those changes visible.
Is a mapped tower definitely serving my phone?
No. OpenStreetMap describes physical communications structures. A modem-reported Cell ID and a mapped structure are separate records unless an approved cellular database provides a verified match.
Does SignalPilot run in the background?
No background location permission is requested. Route recording is user-initiated and designed for an active field session while you use the app.
How do I delete my data?
Use Privacy → Delete all local measurement history for saved routes, and Test history → Clear for network tests. Uninstalling the app removes its private local storage.
